Vote for Madden 13 Cover

Vote for Madden 13 cover http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature/madden2013cover.

Last year Maddenites got it all wrong with the selection of Peyton Hillis. Or possibly Peyton was struck with the most severe case of the Madden curse, but for one reason or another he was a huge disappointment for all that voted for him. Hopefully this year we can make a much more respectable choice for Madden 13 cover.

Madden 12 Roster Ratings

ESPN is slowly posting Madden 2012 roster player ratings at their website. They have most of the AFC team rosters up and will be putting new ones up daily. Here is a good way to take a look at the teams before the game comes out, so you can select the right team for your franchise. http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/videogames/madden12ratings/_/team/sdg/id/24/san-diego-chargers

NFL Lockout is Officially Over.

It’s been 4 long months and 12 days since the start of the NFL lockout, but today both the players and the owners have come to an agreement. The owners will receive 53% of the revenue, but the players can also consider this agreement to be a win as they will not have to play 18 game seasons and all NFL players will be provided with lifetime health insurance provided by the NFL.

What does this mean for the start of the season and off season transactions?

It appears that NFL free agent signed will begin as early as tomorrow morning and camp may open as early as Wednesday. So teams will be able to add key players to their teams this week. Their will only be one preseason game that will be affected and that is the Hall of Fame game, which was cancelled earlier this week.

Hopefully this will help the Madden team to get the team rosters updated a lot faster than we expect and we should see an update a week or two after the initial Madden 2012 release date.

Madden fails Online Franchise users AGAIN

With the announcement today, Madden’s community manager, Justin Dewiel, has let us know that the advancements in offline franchise mode will not be made in the Online Franchise mode. This news is really disappointing to me as I believe a few minor improvements would greatly increase the online franchise experience. It is completely unacceptable that they would leave the most social aspect of Madden 12 unchanged. Madden needs to understand that us Maddenites can only handle so much carelessness before we turn our back to this company. I really hope that the game play will make up for the lack of improvement to the online franchise mode.

“Hey guys, Justin Dewiel, your EA SPORTS Community Manager for the Madden NFL franchise, here with a short update on where we currently are with Franchise mode, and a look at where we’re heading. So many times throughout the year I get the pleasure of revealing features that you, the community, have been asking for.

Revealing our Offline Franchise mode feature set was one of those days. It’s no secret that our Franchise mode was lacking features that our fans expected. This community feedback was the #1 reason behind the renewed focus on Franchise mode in Madden NFL 12. For those of you who missed all of the details on the improvements/additions made to Offline Franchise, you can catch up on everything by clicking here. I feel confident in saying that you’ll be impressed with the experience this year and I look forward to hearing your feedback.

Since we revealed the details of the Offline Franchise mode, the most requested question has been, “What upgrades have you made to Online Franchise mode?” We set aggressive development goals for Madden NFL 12 – from the improvements to Offline Franchise and Superstar modes, to the complete overhaul of visuals, addition of custom playbooks, a new collision system, our yet to be discussed Online Communities feature, and more. When it comes to the tight schedule of an annual development cycle, we have to make tough decisions, and it became apparent as we continued to work through our campaign that there was no way to deliver a deep, fully connected Online Franchise experience that you deserve this year. Therefore, there will be no additions to Online Franchise mode in Madden NFL 12.

That said, I can say with absolute certainty that delivering a feature-rich Online Franchise mode is a top priority for the Madden leadership as we move forward. It’s crucial that we transform how and where fans interact with our games and each other. Modes like NCAA Football’s Online Dynasty or FIFA 12’s Football Club are leading the way in building connected experiences, and you can expect that the Madden NFL franchise will aggressively work to meet and exceed your expectations for Online Franchise.

Community is the heart of everything we do at EA SPORTS. We hope you’ve felt represented in everything from the Madden NFL 12 Cover Vote to the new features in this year’s game. Bringing passionate fans together, like you, is the focus of Online Communities feature that we’ll detail on July 25th. We’re excited about sharing more information soon and seeing what you’ll create.

As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts! “

New feature introduced for Madden 2012

Madden 2012 DPP

Madden 2012 DPP

Just a few days ago Madden introduces a Dynamic Player Performance feature. This feature allows players attributes to vary throughout the game depending on positive or negative plays through out the game. This feature is customized for each player and will affect some players more than others.

Basically DPP will allow for the “swagger” and “clutch” aspect of the game to come to life. QB’s that lack experience and pose will be negatively affected by sacks and interceptions, where as more experienced QB’s such as Brady and Manning will be mildly affected by the same negative plays. Running backs that fumble early on in the game will be less likely to truck defenders, while they are preoccupied with securing the ball.

The DPP will mostly affect A.I. behavior and wouldn’t affect self-controlled players as much.

I think this feature is looking very promising, I look forward to seeing it in action and if it will live up to its hype. What do you guys think of the feature?

Hillis tramples over Vick for Madden 12 Crown

I was wrong in my prior prediction, somehow Hillis was able to defeat Michael Vick in the fan voting for Madden 12 cover. Just like in real life Hillis proves the doubters wrong. I’m excited for this kid, he is a hard working player that doesn’t necessarily have the Chris Johnson speed, but is able to get his yards and TD’s. Look forward to seeing him improve on his breakout year in the 2011-2012 season.
